At Burnopfield Primary School, we promote a friendly, happy and caring atmosphere within the school. The children are encouraged and taught to develop self-regulation and to show respect for others and their property. The school prides itself on its ethos ‘to inspire, challenge and care’. Within school, the children have rights and a responsibility to adhere to our Golden Rules.

 

In  2026 Ofsted stated “The school environment is calm and orderly. Pupils typically behave well. Staff deal with any behavioural issues, including rare incidents of bullying, quickly and appropriately. This helps pupils to feel safe and positive about coming to school. Relationships between staff and pupils are built on respect. Pupils respond well to the clear expectations and consistent consequences in use across the school. They are motivated to behave well by incentives such as ‘Fun Friday’."

Promoting Positive Behaviour each day 

At Team Burnopfield, we offer various initiatives that are used regularly to maintain an atmosphere of calm, praise and self-regulation. We ask children to adhere to our Golden Rules and operate a positive behaviour system. Relationships are Key.

Core Expectations Reward System-Whole School 

From 2026 children are given dojo points with consistent categories across school. 10 dojos = raffle ticket for excellent behaviour habits. Each week there is a prize draw, the more tickets you have the more chances to win. One draw per class.

There may be times where children do not follow our Golden Rules, and sanctions may need to be used. These are split into three stages. 

 

1. Classroom Teacher sanctions 

2. Senior Leadership Team sanctions 

3. Headteacher sanctions
